  • Separate registration required for each team/craft racing.

  • Registration fees from the POCC Hoe Wa`a Challenge go directly to cover the event costs.  Should the event be cancelled by the Race Director due to weather or other safety concerns, refunds will not be provided.

DOUBLE PADDLERS (for the OC-6 Race)

  • Registration fees are per crew not per paddler

  • For the OC-6 teams, each registered OC-6 crew will receive 6 luau tickets (at race check-in) which are transferable.


  • Deadline for canoe loan requests by July 15, 2018 to be made through registration form submission and to be coordinated by POCC Hoe Wa`a Race Committee. (please request via google form link at the end of the PaddleGuru Registration page).

  • Please do not reach out to other clubs directly to avoid double booking.

  • OC-6 Canoe Rental Fee $300 USD to be collected by the POCC Hoe Wa`a Race Committee and passed through to the team renting their canoe).

  • Completing registration does not guarantee a canoe.  Requesting teams will receive a confirmation email once a canoe loan is arranged.

  • After the canoe loan deadline (July 15, 2018), teams needing a canoe should not register without prior approval from the POCC Hoe Wa`a Planning Team (hoewaa@philadelphiaoutrigger.org).

20% cancellation fee will be assessed for all registrations cancelled by August 7, 2018 11:59 PM EDT. 100% Cancellation fee will be assessed for all registrations cancelled after August 8. 2018 12:01 AM EDT. NO CANCELLATION for Late Registration.


  • POCC Hoe Wa’a Challenge (OC-6): Mandatory OC-6 crew check-in and captain’s safety meeting will be held on Saturday August 18, 2018 6:30AM EDT (women’s), 9:00AM EDT (men’s), and 12:00PM EDT (mixed).

  • Waterman’s Challenge (OC-1, OC-2, surfski, SUP): Mandatory paddler check-in and captain’s safety meeting will be held on Sunday August 19, 2018 9:00 AM EDT.


(Times subject to change – finalized schedule will be emailed to each paddler 2 weeks prior to the race.

Paddlers welcome to form a team not affiliated with a club.  Use this our Hoe Wa`a Challenge Facebook page to connect.  Once a team is formed, the captain can register the team.


  • Luau included in OC-6 athletes team registration fee – ticket is your racing wristband. All others are welcome to purchase luau tickets available on the luau page.

  • OC-6 double paddlers will receive 2 tickets (wristbands) which can be picked up at the registration tent on race day – these are transferable.

  • Extra luau tickets for guests available for purchase at http://www.pocchoewaa.com/luau/ and tickets (ie. wristbands) can be picked up at the registration tent on race day.

    • Adults 13+ years: $35.00

    • Children 6-12 years: $15.00

    • Children under 6 years: free
